X - WHOLENESS

What first appeared in the number one as the unmanifest sum of all possibilities, or the seed, now manifests as a real, tangible creation in the number ten. The material world, characterized as manifested creation, was honored by past cultures as the all surrounding, protective mother. From the totality of the many forms in nature, diversity becomes one again on a higher level. In this way the number ten lets us know that the whole is always more than the sum of its parts.

Like the ten fingers on both hands, in many old cultures the number ten rules as a symbol of completion. The Tree of Life in the Judaic Kabala, based on the number ten, represents creation. Beside the preservation and protection of current values, the number ten also relates to reclaiming lost wholeness.
